Outlook Crashes When Trying to Go to Gmail to Authorize Access

My email account is in a domain hosted at Google. When I try to add my email account to Outlook, it pulls up a small browser-like window to Google, which would allow me to log in and authorize Outlook to access my account. Unfortunately, right after displaying that window, Outlook crashes.

If I start Outlook in safe mode, it is unable to get imap and smtp working with Gmail, presumably because it has not been authorized. There is no way I can find to "preauthorize" the access.

I have a crash file saved on my machine, but don't know where to submit it. Since I'm on a trial account, I don't assume I'm entitled to use the support ticketing system.

Hi Dennis,

Sadly, this is a known issue with gmail and Outlook on CrossOver :/ We do have a bug filed for it, and plenty of other logs attached to it, but no ETA on a fix.

Best,
Meredith

So one of the reasons for this problem, bug can me the imap cache size.
Looking at cache limit in Outlook I found that in Gmail, under Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP I could limit the size of IMAP folders, scroll to the bottom under: Folder Size Limits and set Limit IMAP folders to contain no more than this many messages to 1,000 .
If Outlook has a problem handling Google's limitless capacity for IMAP data, this sets some limits.
As of now after doing this there has not been any crash or freeze. It worked for many. Give it a try and let me know.

I Hope this information was helpful.

Hi there,

I have encountered this bug too, and the crash happens before you are able to even get to Settings: it occurs upon trying to even add the account. Our developers have looked at this and know it's a bug in CrossOver; unfortunately, there is no fix yet.

Best,
Meredith
