Office 2016 not installing

Hi,

I am using the crossover 17 trial version on Ubuntu 17.10 to test the
support for office 2016.
(Once I confirm it does work, I can purchase your product)

However it seems that crossover does not support Microsoft Office 2016.

When installing from a disk (offline installer) using crossover 17, the installation always
fails. (Office windows says something went wrong)

Is there some advice to get to successfully test Office 2016 using the
trial version?

Thanks

I'm having the same issue.

Same problem on Fedora 27

Exact same problem here...

Using Kubuntu 17.10 and Crossover 17.0.0

Despite the fact that Crossover Software Installer marks MS Office 2016 with 4 stars and the label: "Runs Well", while installing the fonts installation goes without problem, and also the MSXML 6 Service Pack 2, but then the MSOffice installation stops at about 75% of the installation process with only the message: "Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 encountered an error during setup" and no other options but a "Close" button...

When pushing the "Close" button Crossover never realizes the setup process has been aborted and remains with the "Installing Microsoft Office 2016" moving gauge active until you click the "Cancel" button. At that point it displays "The installation failed" and allows a review of the "debug.log" file...

The debug file is very big to post it here (16027 lines), but the error lines start at line 1430 with the first errors being:

and the list goes on for the next 15,000 or so text lines...

Can sombody please help with this issue????

I think it has something to do with the RAM because I did not have any issues with the installation process of Office 2016 on Linux/Mac on my old Mac Mini (4GB RAM).

However, I decided to make some changes, and now I have 10 GB of RAM in my Mac Mini, and I noticed the same issue with the installation process on Ubuntu/Mac OS X.

I hope they can fix it.

UPDATE...

Ok, I spent all night reviewing the solution to installation problems on previous MSOffice versions and was able to make the 2016 installation to complete by adding libxml2:i386 package...

That got the installation to finish without errors, but anyway none of the office programs works... They all display colorful garbage inside their windows...

First, I thought it could be a problem with the systems's window composer, but changing it to OpenGL-2.o/OpenGL-3.1/XRender makes no difference...

Back to square one...

Anyone has any idea?

My Office 2016 installation with the online installer just dies on an empty error pop up, see screenshot. Anyone getting the same error? Want me to chuck this into a separate thread?

Can you try the offline installer?

I think it is much easier to install it in this way.

You can try this option:

https://www.apeswithcomputers.com/article/turn-off-hardware-graphics-acceleration-in-office

You may have OpenGL active and installed on your system, but do you also have the 32bit versions installed (e.g. lib32-mesa)? Office 2016 is a 32 bit product, so will require those libraries.

In terms of installer, I have only had luck with the online installer, and not the offline ISO. Microsoft has discontinued the offline installer in Q3 of last year, so I'm not sure there will be much change there!

Edit: Noticed that the screenshots indicate you are installing it on ChromeOS? Not sure if my suggestions will work on that platform!

Ubuntu Mate 16.04 64bit - same here, gets so far with the 32bit version then stops with an error. Excel/Word 2016 etc start but then immediately report an un-fixable problem.

has anyone installed and got this to work?

We have just released CrossOver 17.1 for macOS and Linux, which includes critical bug fixes for Office 2016 installation. If you have experienced problems installing Office 2016 using an online installer, please upgrade to 17.1 here (https://www.codeweavers.com/CX171) or contact our support team for more information.

Thank you for your patience as we have worked to resolve this issue.
