If you try older CrossOver versions, what's the last working version?

I did experiment a bit and it is even more weird than I imagined.
23.7.1 is the latest version that works flawlessly.
However, if I upgrade an EXISTING bottle from 23.7.1 to 24.0.0, it asks for activation again, yet activation succeeds and I can upgrade further to 24.0.4 and everything works!
But I can NOT install to 24.0.4 directly.
