Microsoft Office 2010 Forum

By installing the pre-reqs for Office 2007 into a bottle, plus adding MS XML Parser 6.0 SP1 I was able to get it to the Product Key entry screen in the installer, but it's not doing the automatic verification yet. Perhaps by passing the key to the installer (or using one of the deployment tools to do it if needed) there is a way to get past that quirk, or perhaps some other package that can be installed/updated to get it going.

Just wanted to post a current status.

That is as far as I can get too. Hopefully this is supported soon. My work is planning to move to Office 2010 so I would like to stay on the same version as everyone else.

I'm using the VLK edition of Office 2010 so I never get a license screen during the install. But it fails and posts a Windows Error Reporting screen.

I tried to install in Ubuntu 10.4 by first creating an XP bottle for Office 2007 and then adding MSXML 6.0 Service Pack 1 from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=d21c292c-368b-4ce1-9dab-3e9827b70604&displaylang=en and the installer worked at first but crashed with the following error

Has anyone tried installing it in a windows environment and then bringing the Program Files over to try out?

there's no chance to get files from working windows installation, mocrosoft's registry-mess is too big for that.
it could work if installed on a clean XP, with registry+filesystem snapshot before and after, then make an MSI with the result. (repack the spaghetti)

• will try one day .. need to get 2010 image+license key first.
