Hi there,

I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 with an Nvidia card.

When I try to do a cut and paste the small office menu that gives options for the kind of paste you want flashes on screen along with the pasted material but disappears before I can make a selection.

Any clues on how to make this remain on screen so I can complete the paste?

What you're seeing is a manifestation of a known bug that affects sub-menus in some Office 2007 and 2010 menu dialogs. You should notice that if you right-click and mouse over "font" or "paragraph" (don't click, just mouse over) that the menu does not disappear. If you try to mouse over any of the "paste options", or any of the sub-choices inside "Bullets", "numbering", etc, the menu will disappear.

The solution (until we fix it) is to either select and click on the paste option you want really fast before the menu disappears, or to use ctrl+V to paste and then click on the little "ctrl" menu that appears next to your pasted text/object, where you should be able to select the paste options successfully.
