Microsoft Office 2002 (XP) Forum

Hi, I have a problem....I have just downloaded the latest crossover demo and am trying to load Office XP (WinXP bottle as default). The problem is that when Office XP it asks for the 25 digit number and when I type it in it thinks that the number is not valid. It is. It's old but valid. This happened when I tried it on Wine a while back so I bit the bullet and loaded XP into VitualBox and it takes the Office disk & number no problem.

Yes, I know that means that I have a working VM system so why try it on Linux (Ubuntu 7.04 by the way)...well I need office for work but I have an intense dislike of Windows so does anyone know how to get the system tomaccept my valid registration code?

Perhaps running Office XP in a winxp bottle is the problem. For me, getting Office XP in a winxp bottle requires wedges and trickery.

Office XP in a win98 bottle has accepted all of the retail license keys that I've tried.

I tried installing Office XP into a Windows XP bottle.. It didn't take my real code, didn't take 2 i found online, didn't take my friend's legit code.

Now i'm trying installing it in a Win98 bottle.. it's 'updating windows components' Let's just hope this works!

Took my code first try. Installing Office XP into a 98 bottle instead of a XP one... weird.
