Is there any sense as to when Crossover Games will be compatible with .NET 4.0? I am finding a lot of programs are requiring that now. Very frustrating.

yea... i need it for a lot of newer programs as well.
They are working on this problem currently I think. If your application is purely based off .Net to run, you could try mono as a substitute right now. Examples of how to do this is here:

Please note that it must be native .net v4 not like requiring for example Adobe AIR 2 but has .NET v4 dependencies. It might work but I can't give you 100% confidence with that...
CrossOver 11.3 managed to implement .Net 4.0 a little bit. Version 12 (In beta right now) has much better support for .Net 4.0. A .tie file is even available now, although it is still a little sketchy.
