Prereq List (Unsupported, so read this if you want to test.)

Software rasterizer for the Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Software Development Kit (SDK) 64-bit

A single file, %windir%\system32\rgb9rast_2.dll, is contained within the MSI file. (Might only be necessary if the bottle type is WinXP.)

To get it out, use "7z x FILENAME", then open the .CAB, and get the file. You will have to fix the extension to .dll, as it will be either .x86 or .x64 depending on the package. (CrossOver only supports x86?)

Edit: Just found install other software supports MSI files... Oops. It installs the file without all the effort.

This link was grabbed after completing windows genuine advantage... so not so sure what kind of licensing issue this may create. Proceed at your own risk. (Disclaimer: The computer I am testing on does have a valid OEM license for Windows XP)

Edit: CrossOver did not detect the install had finished.

grats on .net 3.5 guys..... i cant beleave i just installed it perfectly
oh and i avoided all the prereq stuf by installing
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=69B2C4DB-0765-4980-9C1B-8F781AD50BD0&displaylang=en
it took a while but i installed it on the xp bottle

Be aware thought hat often .NET 3.5 says it installed successfully, but didn't copy a few crucial components.

I'm trying to install (unsupported, untested) TurboTax 2009 (Home & Business), which requires .NET 3.51. I tried dablackfox's link and got excited 'cause it looked like it was working.

But the .NET 3.51 + SP1 install (the third thing it tries to install) just ran and ran, running the progress bar from 0-100% over and over again. I put it out of its misery after about 16 hours.

Any other ideas on how to get it installed?

As far as to my today's knowledge MS .NET Framework 3.5 and all of its SPs neither install nor run successfully in Crossover 8.0.0. Hence any application dependent on it will give you the same experience. Sorry for this bad news but a VM would be the alternative.

Hi,

The .NET 3.x series are unlikely to work in crossover/wine until
later this year (I have a ticket opened on this wrt some games
that need .NET 3.0/3.5 and that's the estimation I've got back
from the devs in these regards)

Cheers!

Has anyone tried installing .NET 3.5 with CX ver. 9.0?

Hi,

Ditto I'm afraid -- .NET 3.5 is unsupported in crossover
at this time (this includes CXO-9.0 )

Cheers!

MS.NET 3.5 won't install in Crossover 9.0.0, but version 3.0 looks like installing pretty well which is an improvement to past versions. Any service packs won't install either.

.NET 3.0 installs, but I'm not entirely sure it's working correctly (I've
read a couple of reports claiming the installation fails to enter some
registry keys)....so YMMV with this. One of the devs told me it's actually
the service packs that are being most difficult/problematic to get going
in crossover/wine and this is holding them up...ie; the service pack stuff
is needed to work first before other stuff can be done...and I believe this
includes .NET 3.5 ...ie; they have to get eh service packs running for this.

Cheers!

Any news on 9.0.2?

Um, we released CrossOver 9.1.0 last week. Alas, .Net 3.5 still escapes us...

That's right, for the time being .NET 3.5 won't install... ☹️

For all who wants to know a brief overview of service pack req's...

There are two versions:

.NET Framework 3.5 (the initial release)
It requires .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 and .NET Framework 3.0 SP1

and

.NET Framework 3.5 SP1
It requires .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and .NET Framework 3.0 SP2

A big big job to do...
