Test results with various editions of crossover

Please report your experiences in testing fx3.5 with the various releases of crossover. Perhaps this will help us to keep track of progress.

Tested with Crossover 10 Professional. Still the same story as before. Nothing has changed. Need to do some regression so we can see where to go from here.

Hi,

Just a bit of FYI as it were...as I understand it, to get .NET 3.5 going, wine must get .NET 2.0 SP2 working first...and I ?think? to do that, .NET 2.0 SP1 has to work. I'm not sure if there's anything between .NET 3.0 and .NET 3.5 (wasn't 3.5 like a service pack that just coincided with the release of Vista?), and for many Crossover gamers at least, .NET 3.5 by it's own is likely not going to cut it. because the software goes looking for .NET 3.5 SP2 instead...and now, there's .NET 4.0....{sigh}...

Cheers!

It needs net 1.1 sp1, net 2.0 sp2, net 3.0 sp2 to completely install net 3.5 or 4.0.

and now even the 1.1 sp1 does not seem to install..

Aren't the .NET packages backwards compatible? If .Net 4 gets working then it would run all the ones before it.

I guess wine must implement whatever is not working so the newer ones can work, due to the backwards compatibility, but they aren't required you shouldn't have to install them.

....iirc, it's an install dependency situation within the
.NET framework -- assemblies part of previous releases must
be present for the superseding release to install correctly
... or some such. Trust that, if anyone could make it all
so convoluted, M$ can ... =)

M$ sure can...
If only Mono could take care of some of those...

Hi all,

I'm trying installing this in my FIFA 12 bottle since I found a website saying that FIFA 12 requires it.
How do I tell if the framework has installed and works?

Thanks,
Alex

Okay, I now see- at the end of the installation, it said came up with a setup error.
This is is CXG 10.1.1- I'd already installed .NET 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0, but no positive result...

How can I help get this working?

Alex

... .NET 3.5 is not currently supported (nor does it work) in crossover/wine.
You will, like the rest of us, need to wait until the required code is part
of wine before anything changes -- I'm guessing that'll be next year, but who
knows, maybe I'm wrong and it'll happen sooner...

You should install mono 2.8 will fix the issue you mention. Its a while ago i tried some bottles but dunno if mono is included in the packages of the bottles, anyway, if not, then install it manually.

Jsut for info. FIFA 12 is out for the Mac too ;)
