Microsoft Money Plus 'Sunset' Version

In case anybody has been trying to get Money Plus to run, I think I found the key! Finally, a great personal finance app running on the Mac (Snow Leopard 10.6.4) without having to install Windows!

I was able to install the latest edition of Microsoft Money Plus and it works fantastic! I had previously been running it in Windows 7 on Parallels Desktop 6 on a 2.53 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro with 4 GB RAM (worked well, but was still way slower than running CrossOver).

First, I installed CrossOver for Mac. Next, I installed Money Plus - the 'Sunset' Version http://www.microsoft.com/money/sunset.mspx in a Windows XP bottle. Lastly, I installed Internet Explorer 7 in the same bottle (without it, you will get an error when attempting to open Money).

So far, it has been working perfectly!

I need help with this... I installed crossover, have figured out what a bottle is, but have no clue how to get sunset version in there???

Sorry it took so long to reply — I don't really check the forums unless I'm having a problem.

First, download the Money application (http://bit.ly/msmoneyplus).

Next, you need to start the CrossOver Software Installer, and choose "Other Application" under the "Unsupported Applications" section. Now click the "Select" button next to "Select an installer." Choose the installer you downloaded — it should be "USMoneyDlxSunset.exe"

In the section labeled "Will install into...," be sure to select the bottle you want to install Money Plus into, or choose "New winxp Bottle." Next, select "Proceed."

When it's done, you'll need to run the Software Installer again to install Internet Explorer 7 into the same bottle. As noted in the installation notes, "Please uncheck the option to download updates and virus protection as this may cause the install to fail."

You should be able to launch Money Plus when the installation has finished.

I'm on my new (first-time) iMac running Lion OS. Successfully installed CrossOver for purpose of installing Sunset version of Money Plus so I can get off my (!@#$%^&*()) PC once and for all. Followed your directions to the letter, but cannot open Money Plus. Pop-up window says I need to run Money Setup from the disc first. How would I do this? THANKS!

Are you quite sure that you're using the "USMoneyDlxSunset.exe" file downloaded from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=20738

And that you installed IE7 into the same bottle that contains Money? I haven't tested it extensively, but with Crossover 10.2.0 on OS X 10.7 you should at least get money to launch, successfully.

I did notice that a launcher icon wasn't successfully created, so I had to create one using the "msmoney.exe" file within "Program Files/Microsoft Money Plus/MNYCoreFiles" as per these instructions:

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/create_launcher

Yes to your first two questions. Then successfully followed instructions per your link to create launcher. Money launched, and I was able to import my existing ".mny" file. But it does not work properly. Cannot navigate from original account selected to another account in the file. Attempts to do so cause "serious errors" which cause Money to have to close. Woe is me! I guess it's back to the old BALL AND CHAIN for now. Will check back periodically for more input as this is the closest I have come since moving to Mac. Thanks so much for the help anyway.

I also tried to install by following these instructions and I was able to get Money Sunset to run well. However, that was only the first time running. The second time the program ran, it had graphic glitches so that most of the UI is not the right color and it is more difficult to use.

I uploaded the screenshot to the Microsoft Money Sunset Application screenshot page, however as of this post it was not approved yet. http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=10098;screenshot=1
