Original install went bad and now it won't re-install

So I happily had MS Money 2004 Standard working for many months, when suddenly a few weeks ago the main window stopped showing up when the program launched. The opening musical chime would sound off, and the splash screen would display, but then the actual Money workspace never would appear. I backed up my "My Money.mny" and "My Money.mbf" files and set about creating a new Win98 bottle, installing IE 6 SP1, and then Money 2004 Standard from the CD I used previously, but now it just won't install. I get an error message that says the installation has exited, and a crazy long log file that I can't begin to comprehend.

Any idea what went wrong with the original install? Any tips on how to get it working again?

I'm using a early 2008 2.5 GHz MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.2 and CrossOver 8.0.3.

Thanks!
