Money 2003 up and running

This program was successfully loaded on a Mac OS X into a Win98 environment and has been running without significant issue for a couple of weeks. I am a heavy user of Money for all personal finance needs, including lots of investing, though I do not go online directly through Money or through the Win98 environment. I download files from my bank using Safari and then import into Money.

Biggest issues (most are simliar to those posted under Money 2004)

  • mouse button doesn't always work for selection. You will need to get use to using TAB, space bar, Return and navigation arrows to get things working. This doesn't take long to get used to.

  • some investment report gave errors the first time and had to be re-built. Then they worked fine.

  • Old loan accounts where no longer closed after conversion. When I try to change the account details to close the account, the program tries to go to msn.com and I can't see the account details in order to change them

  • selecting from a drop down list is best done with the navigation keys, rather than mouse.

Overall these are minor issues compared to the benefits of not having to convert to new software after starting a new life away from PC's. I tried other software for personal finance made for Mac OS X and nothing comes close to the features provided within Money. I was very releived when I found Crossover and was able to keep Money.

Just wanted to update my original post.

I'm now running Crossover 6.2.0 and all mouse issues have disappeared. Runs great. I still use Money 2003 in the Win98 environment. Does everything I need and see no reason to upgrade to newer Money program.

I can download all banking transactions from my bank's website into a MS Money readable file and save on my iMac desktop. In Money, I import the file in seconds. Very easy.

I am trying to load Money 2003 on a Max OS X into a Win98 bottle, and not having any luck. It will install the Money 2003 System Pack, but then says it must reboot before continuing the installation. Then the installation stops after the simulated reboot. If I try to install again (even tried going directly to the installer file SETUP.EXE) it still keeps saying it must reboot before continuing installation. I can never get it to actually start installing Money 2003 application.

Can you describe the sequence of steps you took to install this?

Hi,

Did you suffer the message about security issues and problems with cryptography when trying to open your money file (or crate a new one) ?

Got it installed but can't use it!

Thanks

I've managed to get Money 2003 running fine using a Win98 bottle on the Mac. Only problem is that it insists on using the US date format, despite my best efforts to edit the registry.

What do you have selected for the Region pop-up on the Formats tab of the International pane of System Preferences?
