Money 2000 says not enough memory

I have it working almost perfectly except for when I try to open the Bills section. At this point I get a dialog to say there is not enough memory. I have 32GB! I have the latest version of Crossover running on OS X Yosemite. Not really sure of the best place to start. Any advice would be gratefully received. :)

The problem is probably that this old application doesn't expect more than 2 GB of memory, has an integer overflow and therefore thinks you have a negative amount of RAM.

You can try to use winecfg to set winver = win98. That may work around the problem.

Ah that makes sense, thanks Stefan. I already had it set to XP and changing to Win98 did not help unfortunately.

Is there anyway to limit/throttle the amount of RAM available to an application or bottle?

Thanks,

J

No, we don't have a setting like that. That's because CrossOver is not a virtual machine. Instead we pass memory allocation requests to the operating system we run on, and it handles all the memory management stuff.

On Linux there's a kernel command line to limit the amount of memory used for the entire system. I don't know if there's an equivalent setting for OSX. Also, running a modern Linux or OSX system with only 1 GB of memory is going to be painful :-\ .

If you Google "microsoft money not enough memory is available" you'll find plenty of Windows users having the same issue.
