'Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) on an Ubuntu 10.04 OS. Since my
licensed product is installed on another computer, I used the FSX free
demo as testing ground for your emulator and this is what I found.
First the positive, and there is a lot of it, I created a Vista bottle
and C:drive with windows directory, installed the demo successfully
without a hitch and found both directory and game on my local drive.
Running the fsx demo showed the eula under the splash screen so I had
to move it via the task bar context menu to proceed, once I did however
it ran unhindered. I beefed some of the graphical settings to ready a
flight and noticed it may not have adapted "Application Settings"
option of my graphics driver, perhaps not noticing the application:
i.e. filters and quality settings. The in flight window was very fine
and o.k. except drop downs from the fsx task bar, showed NO text in the
context menus. The links got highlighted and were working links,
however I had to guess at what they were because the text was not
there. All camera/keyboard switches worked across the board as did F9
for virtual cockpit recall. Pan and zoom worked fine too with the mouse.
Besides the fsx:menu bar not showing text labels, I could not hide and
show it with the alt key either. At times it would hide itself but most
of the time it got activated some way automatically and could not be
hidden. FRAME RATES were good to great, absolutely nothing to complain
about there. To recap, the context menu of FSX from the in flight
menu bar showed no text or titles, but the drop downs and links
worked. The menu bar itself did not appear and hide with the alt key.
I suppose that PMDG add ons would install and run via
CXGames as well. Hope this will help someone in getting FSX to work with cxgames.
