CrossOver 19.0.1. Can't change line style nor select chart elements by clicking them directly.

I still have limited use with MS Excel 2016 under CrossOver. One thing I'm experiencing and which is impeding me from doing my work (I'm currently using a Windows VM) is the inability to change the line styles. Irrespectively of the kind of line I choose (dot, trace, dot-trace, etc.) it always shows as a continuous line. This isn't just a graphical glitch because if I print it or copy it in image format it doesn't change.

Another problem is the inability to select chart elements by clicking them. If the chart is unselected I can select an element at the first click. But afterwards I can only select the chart area. To select another element I have to unselect the chart and then click the element I want. This problem is less important, since I can select any element from the toolbar, but the line styles are really important.

The only thing I tried was to run Excel without graphical performance enhancement, but it made no difference.

Thanks for reading this.

Luís, you indicate the use of a Windows VM; what OS are you running Crossover in? Is it Linux, Chrome or Apple? What version?

I have the Excel 2016 running in Linux Mint 19.3, Crossover 19.0.1 not having any issues to date, even signing into Microsoft account.

Though I do not tend to use more advanced functions for my purposes, I have just played with 'Line Styles' and creating a chart to access 'chart elements' - all of which worked as advertised.

Interested to hear back from you.

please post a log file.

Love to...can you tell me how?

To create a log file, open crossover select the bottle where your application is installed, right click on your application's icon choose run with option and check the option create a log file. Run the application and repeat the actions that are affected from the "strange" behaviour, after that colse the app, and then you can use cloud services like drop box or drive to "publish" this file through a link just post the link on this forum so I can see what's going on.

Simone I think you meant to reply to Luís's original post.

Yeah Sorry my mistake :).

Hi!

Sorry for the delay. I am also experiencing problems with Word 2016, but I'll open a thread about it later.

I wasn't very clear. I meant I was using a Windows VM under my Linux OS to do what I couldn't do on the host using MS Office under Crossover. The host is Manjaro XFCE.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Ok I saw few errors related to wined2d. Try to run this command through command line, you have many Crossover dependencies missing, /opt/cxoffice/bin/cxfix --auto. And then give this command sudo apt install mesa-vulkan-drivers mesa-vulkan-drivers:i386 libvulkan1 libvulkan1:i386 vulkan-utils. Try excel and let's see if the performance are still the same or they improved. Once you have done please post another log file.

cxfix doesn't work because crossover doesn't recognize the distribution. However, AFAIK, cxfix runs cxdiag and installs required components. The output of cxdiag is here:

I have installed a missing vulkan 32bit component and now it is active. However, the problem remains. Regarding the rest of the missing dependencies, I don't see the need for them. They are all suggestions and the only one that might be need is the opencl library (which I also don't think is needed for office work).

Really, I'm not interested in playing games. I just want to use office stuff, like Word, Excel and some Golden Software applications. I have Linux alternatives for the rest.
