Data range selector broken

I have been using Excel 2003 for a while now under both Crossover 7 & 8 on OSX 10.5.8. For the most part it works fine without any problems. However, in both versions of crossover, I am unable to use the data range selector in Excel.

Steps to recreate problem:

  1. Open a new or existing Workbook in Excel 2003. I am using Excel 2003 version 11.8169.8172 SP3.
  2. Click the button for the chart wizard
  3. Click next to get to the "Chart Source Data" step.
  4. Click the data range selector button on the right side of the "Data Range" text entry field.
  5. The chart wizard disappears and new dialog appears. On a normal Windows install I could now use the mouse to select the source data for my chart. However, clicking the mouse produces no change in the dialog and I am unable to select any part of my worksheet. If I click the button on the right side of the side of the dialog I can get back to the wizard and finish making the chart, but I have to type in the data range by hand.

This ends up being more of an annoyance than a problem because I can work around it by preselecting the data before making the chart or else typing in the range by hand. I just want to confirm whether this is a know bug and whether any other users are having the same issue or if this is just an issue with my install. I also have the same problem when trying to make a formula. From the behavior it appears to be a problem with modal dialog. When I click in Excel, I see the main window gain focus briefly and then the modal dialog regains focus. I have attached a screenshot below.

Thank you so much for the steps to reproduce and for the screen shot. It actually helped another user to write in and ask... which also should help you!

This is a known issue with CrossOver, but by fixing something else we appear to have fixed this for our coming release. When CrossOver 9.x comes out (expected in the next month), this should be fixed.

Cheers!

Thanks for the update Caron. I will definitely try it out once CrossOver 9.X is released.

Just checked this with 9.0.1RC1 and the bug still exists. Should I file this on a bug report?

Hi,

In this case I would send an email to info@codeweavers.com and
include a link back to this forum thread....that way, it'll end
up as a support ticket and if it's deemed to be a bug by the Ninjas
or devs it will so marked.

Cheers!

Or you could just follow the instructions and log your experience at http://www.codeweavers.com/beta/crossover/report/enter/

Indeed...that would've been my response last week when it was beta ;
now that it's a release candidate, I figured my suggestion above made more
sense all things considered...

Cheers!

Just checked this again in the most recent version of Crossover (Version 11.2 (11.2.0.26218)) and this bug still exists.
