Microsoft Access 97 Forum

I found that many times Office 97 SR2b does not upgrade a lot of files under some versions of cxoffice. As I have a dual boot system, with win98SE+Office 97 , I just copied the missing files over the old ones, in cxoffice/../ msoffice 97 tree. It solved many problems, but not all. I need to check if there are still something missing in win/system directory...

I had this same problem many times running the SR2 patch under Win98. The problem used to be related to fast systems other than the current at the time of the release of the patch, planned to Win95 or so. The solution used to be install office and all patches under safe mode and/or with hard disk fast performance settings disabled. So, to reproduce such slow machine behavior under linux may be a trick. Could it be?

I saw your input to my beta report, and went here. How far did you get by copying files over, and what files?

I remember trying to get DejaVu 3.x (my advocated app) to run in Wine before I knew about X-over. It uses MSJet just like Access, and I believe I got the same kind of errors for Access and DejaVu 3.x. I thought back then, that solving it would require registry tweaking. At least that's what the error messages indicated.
