I've tried the suggestions in tips and tricks (modifying msaccess.exe.manifest), however I can't get rid of the error "Microsoft Office cannot verify the license for this application. A repair attempt failed or was cancelled by the user. The application will now shut down."
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Edit: I have just installed office 2010 in a fresh bottle, activated by telephone, and then installed SP1. Office 2010 starts up fine now!
I was pretty reluctant to go through the telephone palava so I reinstalled Office into a new bottle, opened Word, went to File/Help and clicked on Change Product Key.
When entering the product key I unchecked the Automatically activate box. Office then went through the usual reconfigure.
I then closed Word and re-opened and it asked me to authenticate. I did this via the internet and it worked fine.
Closing Word and re-opening showed the product as activated.
