Using the tips & tricks and forum suggestions, I got this working perfectly, and it continues to work perfectly in 9.0.

So you completely played the whole game?
Because you only get problems in Codec conversations those come in further in the game(big one ones only) For the rest i had no issues either in 8.0.
I played the whole game in 8.1.4. I didn't play the whole game in 9.0. I only played far enough to confirm that the game still loads, the menus still work, it still saves, the equipment screens, etc. still work.
These codec conversations ... I didn't have any trouble with codec conversations that occur early in the game, so I wasn't aware that others might have trouble. If I have trouble later on, I'll report back here.
