The Digital Rights Management (DRM) software in this program
prevents it from running in CrossOver. If you are in a legal jurisdiction
which allows removal of such software, you may have luck running this
program. Unfortunately, CodeWeavers, because they are subject to the
Digital Millennium Copyright Act, will be unable to support you. [/b]

I am not a mega computer expert, so i don't think Ill crack it, so any help on getting kingdoms to work on crossover would be ace!

also i am wondering what to do with this

apologies for the edit.

it's cool, but do you know how to install kingdoms or get it to work???

Right tried it using steam doesn't work!

I used the renaming the launcher folder trick, but after looking at forums on steam the launcher needs to been left as the original, so that didn't work.

Anyone have any ideas or has anyone tried.

I don't want to sound like d**k but I seem to be the only one trying and I am not a computer sort of kid, and I did pay for this software just to play M2TW and kingdoms. So any help at all would be ace or at least anything!!!!!

HELP ME!!!!!!

I have the same problem.
After installing kingdoms over steam i can only start the regular m2tw and not the add-on.

I have tested medieval 2 (steam) on CX Games 9.0 BETA today:

  • playing the expansion pack is not possible because of the same bug with the "Launcher.exe" :(
  • there are some improvements in the gameplay e.g. loading screens are now displayed
Any other positive experiences with the BETA 9.0?

when you download medieval 2 total war and kingdoms before playing you must do this
1: <circumvent the copy protection in a manner that is legal where you live - http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/dmca>
2: open crossover games
3: go to the top of the screen hit configure/ manage bottles
4: click on the bottle you have the game in / open C: drive in folder
5: program files/ SEGA/ medieval 2 total war/
6: <see step 1>

by here i meant http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/dmca

Sorry for the edits. As you'll read in the link that we've plastered all over this forum thread whenever there is explicit mention of a method to circumvent copy protection, we can't allow such information to be posted on our website, as it would place our company in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. We're not huge fans of the DMCA, but we must abide by US law. Thanks for understanding.

If crossover's legally bound to not release information around the drm, wouldn't medieval ii just be given a blue medal?

Hi,

Interesting point, but the blue medal is reserved for 'untested' applications. As crossover/codeweavers
is a global online entity, it's rather difficult to delimit medal ranking based on locale...ie; in those
countries where copyright laws -allow- people to circumvent DRM mechanisms by one method or another, then
in those cases we would consider the app to be 'tested' as such, and those user medals awarded to such
testing probably stand.

To be absolutely succinct about the medal ranking system presentation, then for games like this one, the
more 'correct' way to present it would be 'known not to work' for locales where DMCA (or similar laws) are
in effect, and 'gold' (or whatever) for <insert particular country name where such copyright laws do not
prohibit the circumvention of DRM> .... but I'm unsure if anyone would really warm to that idea... 8)

Also be aware that this C4 page covers all releases of the Medieval 2: Total War application, not just
the disc based versions to which the DMCA situation applies...for example, this title is also available
via Steam (and other digital download vendors), and as such the medal ranking you see here may apply to
those digital download versions and not be indicative of this situation regarding the disc based release.

Hope this clarifies things somewhat....

Cheers!
