If crossover's legally bound to not release information around the
drm, wouldn't medieval ii just be given a blue medal?
Hi,
Interesting point, but the blue medal is reserved for 'untested' applications. As crossover/codeweavers
is a global online entity, it's rather difficult to delimit medal ranking based on locale...ie; in those
countries where copyright laws -allow- people to circumvent DRM mechanisms by one method or another, then
in those cases we would consider the app to be 'tested' as such, and those user medals awarded to such
testing probably stand.
To be absolutely succinct about the medal ranking system presentation, then for games like this one, the
more 'correct' way to present it would be 'known not to work' for locales where DMCA (or similar laws) are
in effect, and 'gold' (or whatever) for <insert particular country name where such copyright laws do not
prohibit the circumvention of DRM> .... but I'm unsure if anyone would really warm to that idea... 8)
Also be aware that this C4 page covers all releases of the Medieval 2: Total War application, not just
the disc based versions to which the DMCA situation applies...for example, this title is also available
via Steam (and other digital download vendors), and as such the medal ranking you see here may apply to
those digital download versions and not be indicative of this situation regarding the disc based release.
Hope this clarifies things somewhat....
Cheers!
