Success in getting mediamonky partially or fully running

If you have had some success in getting media monkey to launch then please list the bottle type and any other application you have installed in that bottle. This will help us in our quest in getting it fully operational in crossover

Maybe this reply is late, my apologize but here is:

Install well in a 2000 bottle with these steps, the internal player dont work I use winamp as a external player

  • install Crossover
  • download MM latest version
  • install it using Crossover to a Windows 2000 bottle (you'll see that option if you try to install it, do NOT use a Win98 bottle)
  • DO NOT try to start MM now
  • install IE6 to that same bottle (from the Crossover Standart applications)
  • install Windows Mediaplayer 6.4 from the Crossover Standart applications to the same bottle
  • install Winamp (I use latest) to the same bottle
  • run Winamp and disable all windows except the player
  • disable update lookup in Winamp
  • disable anything in Winamp that has nothing to do with plain playing of music
  • now start MM, it should show the splash and start up normally
  • go to settings and configure the above downloaded and installed Winamp as player
  • close MM
  • close Winamp
  • restart MM

Hi all,

has anyone made any more progress in getting MediaMonkey to work on Crossover?
I have tried as described above but ran into issues.

However I can get as far as having MediaMonkey installed and working even with it's internal player (use the MAD plugin http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/input-output/).

But I still get "error initializing Player" when starting up MediaMonkey and even more annoying a "general exception writing memory ...." when existing which causes Crossover to not close the process down - you need to manually quit the process.. this erors are the same regardless if i try to above with Winamp or the below....

So basically what i used in the end:

  • create new WinXP Bottle
  • install latest MediaMonkey (it seem to make a difference - doesn't work for me - when not having hte overwrite windows skin selected.
  • install MAD plugin
  • install IE 6 from crossover std sw.

Anyone able to assist please?
