Works perfectly on Mac OS X 10.5.8

With COG 8.1.4 Max Payne installs from CDROM without problems, but chokes on the copy protection. After this problem was circumvented, game runs fine perfectly without any problems so far.

If you update Max Payne, first install the 1.02 patch and then the 1.05 patch. Directly applying the 1.05 patch doesn't work.
