Yes, there is; if you're made of money. The student revision was (last time I asked them) Windows-only. It is important for me to have the student edition of R12 working. It seems to install OK. I haven't got around to running it yet but I will post results when Ido.
I'm not sure which version of Matlab Student you have, but I have 7, R14 and the same CD works for Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX. Nonetheless, we will try to get the Windows Version to work, for whatever reason.

Yes, while there is a perfectly good version for Mac OSX, i have found that it only works on the PPC architecture and not on the Intel. I have struggled with this for a few months. Looked up a few forums and realized that it only works on the PPC architecture.
I have found the *nix version to crash quite often. I admit it it very odd for a nix app to crash, but I think it has something to do with the java. All the calculations run fine, it is just when I plot.
I would like to setup the windows version under crossover to see if it runs better, i.e. no java crashes.
Actually, there is a very urgent need for getting this to work with Crossover. Mathworks doesn't advertise it, but the Mac/Linux version does not support all of the toolboxes. Most Significantly xPC Target toolbox and quite a few others that are used in research are only available for the Win32 version.
Could you be more specific about which other toolboxes are missing? I have the R2008a linux version installed with all the available toolboxes. Also, the windows 7.10 version works fine under crossover. I don't have a copy of the newest windows version for testing.
Here is the compatibility list for Win32: Win Platform
Here is the compatibility list for Mac (As far as I know Linux is the same): http://www.mathworks.com/products/availability/Mac_OS_X_Intel.html
The big one that I am missing is xPC Target and MATLAB hasn't spoken publicly about any plans to make that available to the Linux version.
Did you have to do anything special to the 7.10 version working? I'm trying to get Windows 2008a installed in Crossover and I'm getting an error during install about need an ActiveX control or something. I'll post back with more detail when I play with it some more.
EDIT: By selecting to only install MATLAB and Simulink (no other toolboxes), I was able to completely install in Crossover and run. However, there are serious graphics faults: the different parts of the screen do not refresh on their own and you can only see them when clicked on or while resizing the screen. The command line appears to be fine, but on startup their are a number of Java related error messages that are displayed.
Full MATLAB installation:
I installed Java 6.0 first and IE 6 in the XP Bottle.
At 97%, I got the following error: "The activeX controls for the Gauges Blockset failed to register. Please rerun the installation." This was while the following component was being installed: C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2008a\toolbox\rtw\targets\xpc\target\kernel\embedded\xpctto.rtb
Surprisingly, installation did not crash, instead continued until it gave the following error: "You must have a supported version of the .NET Framework installed before you can install MATLAB Builder NE. Install the .NET Framework and then re-install MATLAB Builder NE." This is expected, I guess, given the lack of .NET installation.
Uh-oh, this looks bad: "Could not register the file C:\Program Files\MATLAB\R2008a\toolbox\mbc\mbcguitools\ocx\mwmbccontrols.ocx. Error loading file."
And this: "The activeX controls for Simulink Verification and Validation failed to register. Please rerun the installation."
Then it got stuck, with this error repeating every time I hit OK for about ten times, then continued: "The activeX controls for the xPC Target failed to register. Please rerun the installation."
Installation completed and it asked for activation. Location of license file has to be typed in manually, "Browse:" button does not work.
MATLAB installs but with errors in the command window, and the Current Directory window has to be closed otherwise the graphical interface is extremely glitchy.
