I am going to illustrate the issues I faced trying to run Mathcad in Crossover.
- Installation
The installation via Crossover's "Install a Windows application" button does nothing. It runs without errors but after it has finished nothing is installed. Therefore currently the only way to install Mathcad is by creating a new bottle and then using the "Run command..." function, simply select the setup executable and away you go.
Unfortunately there is another problem with the installation on the "Application Selection" screen, remove the checkmark from "PTC Mathcad Viewable Support" because otherwise the installation is going to hang at 99 % forever and take up 99 % of your processor time and loads of RAM. You likely won't need it. It's a driver that allows you to view Mathcad files (.mcd, .mcdx) in Adobe (sic!, they probably meant Adobe's Acrobat and similar programs from Adobe).
Afterwards you can continue and the installation will finish smoothly.
- Running
Now unfortunately all that work was for nothing because Mathcad doesn't work. The installed license wizard & file format converter do not display anything and crash shortly after being launched. Mathcad itself does display it's splash screen for a short time and then remains open without displaying anything.
Unfortunately only the Diagnostic Tools run and actually display something.
