Can't install on mac

Hi, I'm fairly new to CrossOver, but I've tried most of the tricks outlined here, including installing a bunch of runtime components.

  1. Created an xp bottle
  2. Installed directx
  3. Installed .net framework 4.0
  4. Installed Visual C++ 2008
  5. Installed Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0
  6. Installed NVIDIA PhysX
  7. Then tried to install Mass Effect using the CrossTie

I'm using Mass Effect downloaded from GamersGate, I'm wondering if there's a problem getting that to work with the CrossTie. It starts out trying to use Steam as the installer, but I switch it to the install folder downloaded from GamersGate. It goes through the install process normally, but then it crashes right at the end of the installation process. The file that seems to be causing the problem is "X:/data/DataSetup.exe". This seems to have been a problem for a couple of people, but everything that's worked for them still hasn't fixed it for me. Has anyone else had this problem/been able to get around it?

I'm running OSX 10.8.2 on a 15 inch 2012 Macbook Pro.

Hi,

I don't know if this applies to your case. But maybe there is some sort of validation that fails because it requires Steam?

The crosstie is only intended to work for the Steam version of the game.

A starting scenario for you should be to create an XP bottle. Install VC++ 2005, Directx Modern and MS XML 3.0 then run the installer you have downloaded from GamersGate from the Bottle Manager screen by using the "Run Command" button.

If there are any errors, make a note of them and get back to us.

Don't install .NET 4.0. This game never required it. Ever.

I've tried installing from CDs. After installing DirectX, XML and C++, the install still crashed at the end. Seems like a data file was not extract correctly.

The menu is not created correctly. I had to manually add the "MassEffectLauncher" to the menu, and delete the one that was created in "Accessories".

The game runs, but I got some error at the first screen. Also, some textures seems 'rough'.
