Mass Effect 2 Forum

This may sound like a dumb problem but when prompted to insert disk 2 on the install, you insert, you click Retry, it thinks...., doesn't like it and vomits it back out at you. Try again and again and always the same problem. Its like its deliberately taunting you, punishing you, desperate to give you arthritis from shovelling disks about.
I'm going to try installing in Windows and copying the files across.

Don't bother answering this unless you've got it all working, if you do I will shower you with gifts crying "my hero, my hero."

I got this install to work by mounting the first disk in a terminal window then followed these steps

1. Create the Crossover Bottle
2. Insert Disk 1
3. sudo mount /dev/cdrom /tmp
4. Launch Crossover installer
5. When it asks for Disk 2
6. Open a new terminal
7. umount /tmp
8. Eject CD 1
9. insert Disk2
10. Wait until you see the second disk on you desktop
11. sudo mount /dev/cdrom /tmp
12. Installer will continue

Update:

This only seems to work some of the time. Not sure if I have the correct config in bottles. Anyone else seeing this issue?

Here is the working process

Create the ISO

Insert Mass Effect Disk 1
sudo mount /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/media/ISO/ME2_DVD1.iso
sudo umount /media/cdrom

Insert Mass Effect Disk 2
sudo mount /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom
dd if=/dev/cdrom of=/media/ISO/ME2_DVD2.iso
sudo umount /media/cdrom

Install the Game

sudo mount /downloads/ME2_DVD1.iso /media/ISO -o loop
[sudo] password:
Manage Bottles
Run Command
/media/ISO/setup.exe
sudo umount /media/ISO
sudo mount /downloads/ME2_DVD2.iso /media/ISO -o loop
[sudo] password:
Select retry
sudo umount /media/ISO

Game Installed
