Mouse and Shadow bug

Anyone else here having the mouse bug?
At the moment i have to hold shift or escape then centre the mouse so that i can play this game.
Graphics look really bad when there is supposed to be fading gradients or shadows.

Are you on mac or linux?

There are Linux mouse patches on Mass effect one forum.
Linux - Mass Effect updated mouse patches

Did you try the fix in the thread bellow this one for graphics?

Linux, however im done using wine patches.

I cant put in a new patch for every game.

Need to find another way.

Patch for every game? I've 300+ games, none use patches :)

...seriously though, I have had a look at the patches here.
The mouse patch business I would expect to be fixed or be part
of wine-1.4.0 = do nothing now and wait. The other stuff, I'm
not so sure about, because it's an area of winecore that's
constantly being improved upon....

You are right though to an extent.. but .. there is a better
way already. That is to say, people who try these patches (or
winelibs built including these patches), and who discover that
same 'works for them', should submit tickets about such, taking
pains to point out what they did to get it working in cxwine....

...similarly speaking, same should be true is one tries said
patches against wine pure - it'd be helpful if folks reported
good/bad experiences with said patches over at winehq...

Here in C4, there should be a ticket or wishlist bug created
for this app, citing information wrt these patches - has anyone
done same? (I don't see any assigned to this app) This would be
one way to have the devs look into what's going on here. I don't
have this title, but if I did (and the patches worked for me),
I wouldn't just wander off and play the game and be done with
it - I'd ensure the official support mechanisms around here
carried some report of an 'out of tree' patch actually working
in cxwine, to give the devs something to work with....

Cheers!

Hi
tbh, I'd love to find patchless way as well. While those patches makes mass effect 1 working (no luck with ME2 yet), it also screws up for example Tomb Raider: Underworld. And as both games are installed from steam and thus lives in same wine bottle, I'd love being able to play them all (without changing links to different versions of libraries and restarting steam all the time).

Also, patches aren't perfect, in ME1 mouse tends to jump to top left corner or left border of screen quite often.

Guys i found a way to fix the mouse problem without a patch, you just need to download these 2 files and put them in your /mass\ effect\ 2/binaries folder.

http://dablackfox.bravehost.com/winex11.drv
http://dablackfox.bravehost.com/dinput.dll

lol forgot the put the links in the first time.

the only problem remaining is the shot graphics, its really pixelated like its runing in 16bit colors or something.

Also when i said i dont want to patch for every game, the last 2 games i played before this was magicka and league of legends, both needed a patch.

That is a patch. Yeah it doesn't work 100%. The only other easier way would be to use windows.

There is already a ticket on winehq-bug 6971. They have been working on it at wine hq for ages.
From what I understand now that they can implement xinput2 they can fix it. So just wait there are some nice people working hard at it.

hey it may be a patch but i didnt have to compile it, it just worked. XD
