I now have MapSource up and running :)

1. Unzip MapSource-6.14.1.exe (the last update) into its own folder.
   Installation from the exe doesn't work, but it is a plain executable
   zip, so

   $ mkdir MapSource-6.14.1
   $ chdir MapSource-6.14.1
   $ unzip ../MapSource-1.14.1

2. Try to install a mapsource update from scratch from that folder to
   a new winxp bottle (this will fail, as the updater does not find a
   previous installed product). I called the bottle MapSource.

3. Copy over the complete MapSource folder from a working windows setup
   to ~/.cxoffice/MapSource/drive_c/Garmin (make sure the path matches,
   I had it all installed on C:\GHarmin in the windows box)

4. Edit ~/.cxoffice/MapSource/{system,user}.reg and add the exported
   registry trees from winblows. These are UTF16

   $ recode utf16 garmin-sys.reg
   $ recode utf8 garmin-sys.reg
   $ recode utf16 garmin-usr.reg
   $ recode utf8 garmin-usr.reg
   Needs some more hand editing to make the format fit syste.reg and
   user.reg

5. Now install the update again, and use the MapSource Bottle.
