Majesty won't work on Crossover 13.0 on Mac OS X 10.6.8

Hi.

I installed Majesty using crossover. It was a slightly older version. It opened to the title screen, but would then immediately give an error and quit. I then updated my version of crossover and now Majesty won't open at all. No error messages at all. It stays in the dock for a second or two and then leaves.

What's going on? Is there any way to fix it?

I am having the same problem with Mac OS X 10.9.5 and Crossover 14.0.3. The intro sequence plays without any video and then I get to the load screen, at which point nothing happens. I do NOT have DirectX installed, and cannot figure out how to do so. Please advise!

Same here, wondering if it's some error with the bink video or such....starting to seem more and more like I need to purchase the gog versions or something just to get the games running which is sad...I may try one more round of installing it by seeing if the install direct x from the launcher of the cd works if all else fails gog version may be nesscary....

Hey all. I got Majesty Gold HD and standard Majesty Gold from CD both working.

Majesty gold HD:

Installed Majesty Gold HD to an XP bottle.
Run it, it will crash.
Right click the bottle and view C drive.
Go to users->crossover->documents->my games->Majesty HD->and edit the MajXPrefs file.

Change

<Windowed>1</Windowed>
<BlitMode>0</BlitMode>
<IntroVideo>1</IntroVideo>

to

<Windowed>0</Windowed>
<BlitMode>1</BlitMode>
<IntroVideo>3</IntroVideo>

(this change helps with slow-mo graphics issues, where the game runs fine and the sound is great but the animation is crazy slow and keeps the windowed version of the game from crashing, since fullscreen seems more stable)

Also install DirectX 9 into the bottle (right click, install into bottle, type DirectX) for some needed DLLs not automatically installed.

This let me run the game WITH LAN multiplayer enabled, as opposed to grayed out. Everything works, movies included.

Majesty Gold from CD:

Install as usual, XP bottle.
Install DX 9 as above for multiplayer.
Click "run command".
Browse for you MajX.exe, click select
In the text box (which should have the path to your MajX.exe in it now) go to the very end of the command and paste this into it: -nothreadedcursor -useglblit
It should look something like this now: "/Users/<yourusername>/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/Bottles/MAJESTYGOLD/drive_c/Program Files/Infogrames Interactive/Majesty - Gold Edition/MajX/MajX.exe" -nothreadedcursor -useglblit
Test it with the test button. If it works, save as launcher and use that launcher to run the game from now on.
This got Majesty Gold working, with LAN, and without the slow-mo graphics issues I was having (that's what the "-nothreadedcursor -useglblit" bit is for)

The movies were still black, but everything else worked great.
