There are some minor problems with some nvidia cards (getting black screen). To get the game to run:
- Install the game ordinary
- start the game and let PhysX install
- Close Steam and force Crossover to kill the bottle and to initiate a windows restart (if you are a dumb person just restart your PC)
- Start the game; you will get a black screen and the game will be run as 'zombie' under system monitor. Kill the process "mafia 2"
- Now go to /home/Yourname/.cxgames/Steam/drive_c/users/crossover/Local Settings/Application Data/2K Games/Mafia II/Saves and open the videoconfig.cfg with the editor of your joice.
- delete the line and write your own. the first 2 points are for bpp. the next 2 are for resolution and the last 4 I really don't know.
My looks so: 24 24 1280 800 0 0 0 1
After change don't forget to save! - Now start again the game. Now the intro should run properly
Lets talk about Performance:
The intro itself is very fast without any glitches. Then the rendered game starts and it is s.th like really slow. And if i talk about slow this means about 3-4 fps (or was it fph xD)... Had to turn down all settings to low and to put down resolution to 1152*864 to get it playable. Now its about 20-30 fps (feeling like).
Hardware:
Intel E8400 @ 3,0 Ghz (dual core)
Sparkle 8800 GTX (nvidia)
3 GB Ram
I think with the right hardware you can also play it at least under middle settings with good performance!
