Hi !
Same thing here :
Installed fine from Steam. As soon as I click "Play" a white screen appears and it just sits there.
Crossover Linux Games 10.0.0
Machinarium needs Adobe Flash Player 10 to work. It does not need CrossOver or Steam.
Three versions were created, one for Linux, another for Mac and a third for Windows.
The Linux version runs perfectly in Ubuntu 10.10. The only thing to avoid is "Full Screen". Use a maximised window instead.

Just note, this above is a little misleading -- the win32 port of Machinarium -does- need Crossover or Steam if you're going to play that release on OSX/linux.
There is nothing misleading in my posting. Perhaps it is the way that applications are organised in the Compatibility listing.
If you are a Linux user you would not buy a version of Machinarium for Windows, similarly if you were a Windows user you would not buy a version of Machinarium for Linux and if you dual boot you would buy the appropriate version for your primary operating system.
Hi, I disagree...
....So what you are saying here, is people don't have a choice? That is, supposing this did run 'as expected' on CXG, and, the win32 version became available for $1, and, you already owned CXG -- what you suggest is people don't avail themselves of that choice (which is wrong, people should be free to choose whatever they wish)? -- I do know where you're coming from (believe me, I've been into linux from day one ;), but people should be free to choose which version they want, regardless of whether there's native ports available (and your post was misleading relative to this exposition 😉
Cheers!
I agree with Don here. On my Mac, I HAD the windows version of Steam running mostly windows versions of games, including the windows version of Machinarium. The windows version of Machinarium did not work for me under CXG, so I did what I had hoped to avoid: I ended up having both the windows Steam and mac Steam on my PC, with the windows Steam running my windows games and the mac steam running the mac games. To be honest, I'd rather have it all in one place.
Any idea how to get past that white screen?
Since I do not use Steam I am unable to assist you with the white screen.
I use Ubuntu Linux and have the version of Machinarium appropriate for that operating system. My wife predominantly uses Windows and has the version of Machinarium appropriate for that operating system.
The bottom line really is simple ... you do have a choice as to which version of Machinarium to use.
Hi Crispy,
The other place where this aspect comes into play (and you'll laugh at this one ;), is with some Big Fish Games titles -- although there's many of their games natively ported to OSX, my 11,2 iMac won't have a bar of them (they don't run ;) -- the win32 port of the game, in CXG, runs Gold or better. Go figure...but the point I'm making is 'native' isn't always preferable for numerous reasons B^)
As for mister whitescreen, I've not checked it in 10 yet (iirc it was the steam game overlay getting in the way), and that area is changed a bit so it's worth a retest -- I'll get around to it in the next couple of days and post back...
Cheers!
