Its been 2 years since the last update

I was just wondering if anyone was still working on the update for this game. I have reviewed some of the other forum threads and know that there is a technical problem, but it is not right for you to give the game a silver ribbon when it does not work or install. Yes! i have tried installing the file using Crosstie but it does not install at all. Please degrade the rank of the ribbon or fix it.

Hi,

Does the crosstie fail to install, or, does the crosstie successfully install
the title, but it fails to start?

Cheers!

The Crosstie Starts the execution of the installation, it say the downloading of mabinogi has failed on my mac. However crossover games continues the installation of mabinogi. The loading bar just stays at 40%. Should i wait longer? I have Crossover games 10.00
I have also downloaded the light setup of mabinogi from the site directly but cannot find a way to install it. It says "The Path of Mabinogi installation is invalid. If you need any more information please ask.

Hi again...

The silver medal, by the way, is cited against the Crossover Games 9.1/9.2 ...

Crossover Games 10 is a big departure from the codebase used in those versions,
and it could well back that is the cause ; in any event, the silver medals do not
pertain to CXG-10....

...further here, I see mention of the nProtect 'gameguard' system : if this has been
employed/deployed as part of the title's makeup (and then perhaps after this title
was known to be working in CXG-9.1/9.2), that would explain a lot... ie; if that were
the case, it probably doesn't work anymore in CXG-9 either....

...as you're on Mac, it might be a known networking bug that has been fixed in the
current beta release ; that would need to be tested obviously, but, best exclude
gameguard first ... you have to grab a debuglog and find out what's going wrong...

...when I get a spare moment I'll check it on the linux box to see what gives...

Cheers!

HI ok I manage to successfully download and install Mabinogi (I downloaded the game directly from Nexon) BUT I cant run it, when I try it says that there is no windows configure to open this kind of file. What does that mean?
I run a Mac by the way >.<

I've had the same problem. I downloaded Mabinogi, but when I try to open it a window pops up that reads "There is no Windows program configured to open this type of file". Is there a way to fix it?

Hi again,

Ok ... finally found some time for this ...

First up, the c4p/crosstie profile is broken I just discovered (I'll pull
it offline directly) -- seems the installer file download location has moved...

...I'm downloading the (1.5gb) client now, but, there is a high likelihood this
title is using nProtect GameGuard -- if it is using this DRM system, I'm sorry
to say the game will not work - that said, I'll have to wonder why it's got a
silver medal ranking (albeit against CXG-9.1) There may be a chance that the game
was originally distributed -without- GameGuard being involved, and this has changed
(or been added) in the interim of time.

I'll know more when the download is here and I can take a look at it....I'll post back
in a few hours =) ..

Cheers!

Update:

Not going to work ; it isn't GameGuard, but something just as bad - 'HackShield'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackshield

Took some time to find it ... turns out the game installs fine, but the last part
of the installation .. when you start the actual game client for the first time,
the patching process started then doesn't really patch the game in the regular
sense -- it downloads and installs the Hackshield stuff... (had me confused for a
bit as I kept finding an empty 'HShield' directory after initial install, and I
thought they'd done away with it ... not so when I discovered what the 'patch' did =)

..it goes on to make a complete mess of the registry as well, which leaves you with
a bottle that you can't install anything else into... (wild!) ...took several new
bottle make-ups before I got all the dependencies tracked... horrible thing it is...

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4666

That's the winebug associated with this issue, and it would appear unresolved to this
day. I'll ask a Ninja tomorrow if we have a HackShield bug already in the bugtracker
here, and if so, I'll hoist a wishlist bug against it & this app. If that happens, and
you want this problem looked at, you will still need submit a ticket on the issue yourself
(yourselves =) to voice your desire to have this looked at, but from what I've read, this
HackShield system is pretty much a kind of 'rootkit', and as such isn't going to work
'anytime soon' me thinks ....

....wish I had better news, but, you can now stop wasting time with this one ; it's
not going to be working for some time to come yet imho.. ;-/
