Hi All,

Running notes client 6.5.4 with CO 5 Pro. Works great once it's running, but it takes a long time to get it running. I installed 6.5.0 from an old CD then updated to 6.5.4 with the update from IBM. When I start it, CPU jumps to 100% for about 5 seconds, then falls to 12% for 1-2 minutes. Then it jumps up to 100% again and I get the notes splash screen for about 1 minute. Then the notes desktop comes up, but I have to wait 1-2 minutes again before I can click anything. Once it is through that, it works great.

Is this normal????...Should I start notes and go get a cup of coffee while it loads?????

I don't have any other windows apps installed with CO so I'm not sure if this is just a notes issue or a general CO issue.

I am running Ubuntu 5.10 with a custom 2.6.14.3 vanilla kernel.

I also have cedega 4.4.3-1 installed on the same system, but I did not think that would cause any conflicts.

Thanks in advance,

-Sno

I copied the windows DLL files from my laptop and now it gets to the notes desktop in about 2 minutes. But the first time I open something, mail, cal, or other DB, I still have to wait a minute or 2 before I can hit a button.

Seems kinda slow to me...but it does work very well after that.

Thanks,

-Sno

No, this is not at all normal. While I do not recommend CX5 (it's barely useable for Notes651) I do recommend CX5.0.1 which is a HUGE improvement as far as Notes is concerned. Also I'd not recommend pulling dll's from windows since it has not been necessary since CX3. I would start with a clean install of notes (skip the configuration, just install notes and then install the updates) and CX5.0.1. And only copy the MINIMUM personal files (user.id and user.nfs) Also I'd install DCOM95 (first) and IE6 (second) before you start the Notes install.
