You might not be able to see what is written at the Mail list page. This is because of the font set by Lotus Notes to be used by default.
Going to "File > Preferences... > User Preferences..." and clicking on "Default Fonts...", on Basic's session, might solve the problem.
I recommend change fonts according to this:
Default Serif Font: Bitstream Vera Serif
Default Sans Serif Font: Bitstream Vera Sans
Default Monospace Font: Bitstream Vera Sans Mono
Default Multilingual Font: Bitstream Vera Sans
When everything is done click on OK button on this window, the user preferences window and on that window telling you might need to restart Lotus Notes.
Close Lotus Notes and open it again.
If all went right Lotus Notes will be perfectly showing your emails and other things like the calendar.
If you are still having problems with fonts on Lotus Notes, try to change default fonts to anything else different.
