We believe CrossOver 12 beta fixes LOTRO Riders of Rohan - download here and try!

If you want to play LOTRO Riders of Rohan, try our CrossOver 12 beta! You can download the beta from here:

http://www.codeweavers.com/xfer/duboisj/cxbeta/

... and use this key

trybeta

to access the beta. We fixed a bug which we think will help, and many users are reporting success!

CrossOver 12 will be have an official release in a few weeks. For now, for our LOTRO fans, try with the beta and let us know how it works!

Does this mean that LOTRO will be officially supported also starting with version 12? :)

Not that, no.

But we know people do like to play it. Let us know how it works in the 12 beta for you!

As a quick testing the game installed rather well with Siege of Mirkwood installer, although with a heavy amount of complaints on .Net problems in the end. Seems to play nicely though with Linux PyLotro, didn't even try the Windows pylotro that get's installed also.

Didn't do any longer time play testing but as a quick test looks good. Will have to try more tomorrow.

Thanks for this version. Hopefully CX12 is out soon. :)

I just installed the Beta, and I can confirm that the problems I had before, are gone.
Had to update the client version, but was able to start-up without any problems.

So thanks, for letting me use the Beta.

Is this the fix for the fact that lotroclient.exe returns an error when PyLotRO tries to open it and refuses to launch?

Yep

Having some weird issues here, maybe just on my side. In game I cannot access the lotro store, and also click on things in the game world doesn't work unless I hold shift? Left and right. I am going reinstall the game in a new bottle and see if that works.

This is on Arch Linux 64-bit

Tested CrossOver Mac 12 beta 2 which appears to fix the problem for me.

When I first started PyLotro I got a window stating that .Net needed to be installed, but dismissing the window allowed the client to run (I didn't install the software requested, and didn't get the message on a subsequent run). I was able to patch the game without incident, and LOTRO now appears to run fine.

I did not experience problems with the LOTRO store or selecting things as reported by Corey.

I fixed the mouse issue. I don't know what did it exactly, enabling the "capture mouse in fullscreen apps" in graphics of winecfg or disabling all the joysticks I had plugged in. I still can't access the lotro store though, it just gives me a white page with an error message

It seems the "store" problem is affecting people intermittently. Here are the error messages we get from PyLOTRO:

The reason seems to be that Turbine is now using a browser called Awesomium ( somehow related to Google's Chromium ) for the in-game store and the in-game help, and this browser has problems with Wine. The problem is discussed in this thread:

http://forums.lotro.com/printthread.php?t=483229&pp=40&page=4

Some people seem to have fixes for it, while others are unaffected by it. Hopefully codeweavers could implement this fix?

Been off line for about a month - sold house, moved, forgot to change email address... etc.

At any rate, I can confirm that LOTRO works under the released Version 12.0 (12.0.0.26743).

It starts out with a black screen but is apparently fine once it gets to the Character screen. Patched through Update 8.2

I have yet to determine how badly (if different) the memory leak problem is.

We'll see what issues crop up (or go away) with Update 9 on monday 17 December.
