I play the PvP aspect of lotro quit often and when playing it using
the mic is a big part of leading some of the raids. Since i updated
to Crossover 11, I've had the mic cut off nonstop while holding the
key down. now that my demo for the new version is up I'm looking to
revert back to the previous version (Crossover Games last version)
and sadly when i updated to Crossover 11. it moved all my bottles
and crossover games doesn't seem to be able to find them and revert
them to be useable with that version.
Is it possible is what i'm asking, or will i have to spend 12+ hours
redownloading and putting in all the little patches and fix it tips
i used the first time to install and get it running?
If not any suggestions on the mic problem will be looked into, but
honestly it did not seem to run any better in Crossover and as my
license doesn't seem to cover Crossover 11 i'd rather stay with
crossover games.
1- yes it is possible and relatively trivial to "fall back."
The "upgrade" to CrossOver from Crossover games, simply moves all bottles from:
<user>/Library/Application Support/Crossover Games/Bottles/
to
<user>/Library/Application Support/Crossover/Bottles/
You can ignore the rest of the files/directories(folders) except "Bottles."
CXG will simply "upgrade" the bottles when it launches.
"<user>/Library" is (Under Lion) now a hidden directory. You can use the "Go to Folder" option in the Finder (under the Go drop-down) to get there.
2- As for the mic problem ... I doubt that it has anything to do with the version of CrossOver. I have always had problems with the in-game voice system, especially - the mic. Receiving seems to always work. My kin routinely uses Ventrillo, but even that, while better than in-game, was problematic. However, we have recently switched to Mumble and I have had zero problems now for the past six months since we switched.
One thing you can try... launch "/Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup.app" and use it (instead of Preferences/Sound) to control your audio. Sometimes that helps.
One other thing. I use an Audio Express 5+1 headset. This is USB connected. The headphone part ALWAYS works superbly, however the attached mic -- sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Consequently I use the built-in mic on my 27 inch iMac for audio input virtually all the time. There is clearly an issue in LION (and Snow Leopard 10.6.8) with USB Audio input. Even Mumble hasn't managed to "fix" that issue. I haven't tried to track down anything on the problem since about November or December of last year, so their might be more information/comments on the net these days.
