64 bit linux and 64 bit cxgames

I have 2 laptops both have ATI x1300 graphics cards.

On one I have kubuntu i386 8.04 installed with cxgames i386 and have Lotro running fine though at quite low setting due to the graphics card and other hardware.

On the new laptop I put on kubuntu amd64 (its an Intel Core2 Duo CPU T5870). I also installed cxgames 7.00 amd64 but can't get lotro to work. I starts up with a black screen and then dies with the below error message in lotroclient.log.

Has anyone tried lotro on 64bit yet and gotten it to work?

Well I have 64bit Ubuntu on my machine so I don't think it is the fact that your machine is 64 bits.

It could be that that file is corrupt, either copy the one from the other machine or take the version out of the backup directory and repatch. Or it could be faulty memory, I used to get loads of access violations when I played WoW on my previous machine, it turned out to be a dodgy memory chip.

But try replacing the lotroclient.exe file first, if you still have problems try memtest86 (or whatever it is called).

Actually saying the 64 bits isn't a factor could be wrong, there could be a problem with the 64 bit graphics driver that the 32 bit version doesn't suffer from.

Thanks for the reply and the tips. I repached the lotroclient.exe file and ran the memtest. Unfortunatly I'm still stuck with the same problem.

I'm now wondering of my dual screen setup might be the cause of the problem. At work I plug a 19" monitor into the laptop and use it in a side by side config. (love dual monitors) However when I'm at home and want to play LOTRO I don't have the 2nd monitor plugged in. The reason I'm thinking it might have something to do with it is I can't change my desktop wall paper at home either. No matter what I do I can't change it unless I'm at work with the 2nd monitor setup and then I can change either monitor wall paper just fine.
