Argument 'LOTROEU' unknown

Hallo,

im using a mac and I try to run LOTRO Shadows of Angmar.

I installed it from DVD. When I press the login button in PyLotRo I get the
following error: "Argument 'LOTROEU' unknown".

Do someone know what the problem is?

Should I download the full LotRO client?

From the Tips & Tricks -

** Will the Trial or DVD installs work?
The Trial version uses Turbine Download Manager ("TDM"), which is known to be incompatible with CXG/WINE. The original LOTRO:SOA DVD may have outdated files that are not compatible with PyLOTRO. The newer LOTRO:MOM DVD should work without issue. If possible, It is best to download the whole thing.

There are also links to downloadables that I know to work with CXG.

Things have gotten a bit sticky with LOTRO over the past month or so. :/

In general, you should download the client. Even if you have the DVD, you will still have to download a huge amount of patches. ...so you're not really saving time. Also, if the DVD has a version earlier than "Vol 1, Book 11", you'll need to find another support file for PyLOTRO to work.

I assume you're trying to use the EU version of LOTRO Vol 1 (Shadows of Angmar) from DVD on the mac. The current version is Mines of Moria (Vol II, Book 7 with Book 8 to be released soon).

If your account is just the original Shadows of Angmar, I'd suggest upgrading it to MoM. New regions, New level cap (to be L65 as of Book 8) etc. ...and the MoM download is easier to find anyway.

Issues with PyLotro are Alan's domain, and he may have a more appropriate answer... (He's the best!)

Thx for the quick reply...

Ok, I'll download the MoM client and try it again.

Yeah it's just because of the old version needing patching, so the choices are:

  • find an up to date patchclient.dll (see LotRO lorebook for a link)
  • download full client (which you are doing and is a more "sane" method)
