CrossOver Installion Not Working

Hey guys,

I am having a hell of a time with this install. After trying about a dozen times I'm coming here. I think they have changed the latest LOTRO installer. Instead of one error in the installation I am getting 2. One for the .Net 1 installation portion and one for the .Net 1 SP 1 Installation. After I click OK for both errors the LOTOR installation window pops up and I get a 3rd error "Runtime Error (at 250:263) ... Exception: Operation aborted." If I click "Ok" I get the install window and it sits, there is no progress. The only way to get out if it from there is to force quit CrossOver.

Where am I going wrong?

Cole

Update: When rebooting CrossOver and managing the win200 bottle it shows that .Net Framework 1.1 is installed, but I'm still having no dice on the installation of the game client, same errors pop up.

Is there a way to manually update .net 1.1 sp1?

Update 2: I manually downloaded and installed both the .Net Framework 1.1 and 2.0

Now the installer is unable to install C++ 2005 SP1 I'll see if I can find a fix to this in the meantime any tips would be appreciated

The only Tip I can offer is to read the Tips and Tricks here. 😅 This avoids all the problems you're having.

.NET won't work and is not needed. VC2005 isn't needed either. ...and you cannot use the Trial ("TDM") install.

As Harry said, read the tips & tricks and use one of those downloads as they don't rely on the new and "improved" TDM (which causes problems for many Windows users as well from what I've read).

Using those installers should mean that you don't have to install anything else apart from PyLotRO either in the bottle or externally if you are using Linux (or a very brave OS X user)

That's true. The "new and improved" TDM is still not what it should be. I did try it out last month or so, and it blocked access to the game for two weeks or so. (because TDM wasn't working properly, not an account issue)
