Simple Guide on how to install LOTRO (for the beginners) EU servers

So i was extremely new to this crossover and lotro. (this guide is just for the new one's maybe i can help then because i'm new to this to)

I've search a lot on the internet and it was all really difficult if you'r new to this
But i got it and this is what i've done:

You got to have CrossOver ''Games'' 9.1, do not use crossover or crossover pro because that just won't work.
When you have that, you got that make a bottle by clicking on the manage bottle button. and then press on the little + button in the conner.
Name it LOTRO and set it on Windows 2000.
So when you have that click on your bottle you just created and then press on applications: install software.
Type in: Lord of the rings online, then press on: community support applications.
You should see Lord of the rings online: Siege of Mirkwood (yes thats the complete game not just the expansion)
Click on it and then click on proceed. And of course download it in the bottle you just made earlier (LOTRO)
Its going to download LOTRO and Pylotro (you need Pylotro to play LOTRO) and its also going to install some other things you need to play the game its all included.
Just download that, its going to take a while, but i had a mb speed of 15 mb/sec. so i was pretty fast.

Now you done all that your almost done.

There are somethings you still need to change like your video memory:

  • launch Crossover Games
  • in the "programs" pulldown menu select "Run Command"
  • in the resulting pop-up box, under "Use Bottle" select the appropriate bottle
  • type regedit into the command box and click "run"
  • In the left-hand pane open HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Wine
  • If under Wine there isn't a folder called Direct3D, highlight Wine then right-click on Wine, select new -> key and type Direct3D (case sensitive)
  • Make sure Direct3D is highlighted
  • Right-click anywhere in the right-hand pane, select new -> string value and type in VideoMemorySize (again case sensitive)
  • Now double-click that entry and type in the amount of video memory you have in MB
  • Close regedit using Registry -> Exit
  • Exit out of the CXG configuration and you should be good to go

Note: To find out how much video memory you have.... under the "apple menu" select "About this Mac" then select more info.
In the "System Profiler" window which pops up, select "Hardware" "Graphics/displays" Look for an entry "VRAM"

After you did this go to Programs and you see there: Pylotro and Codemaster you don't need to go to codemaster then lotro because it won't work just go to the Pylotro and press on it (you can see Pylotro like a launch center).

So the game will launch then you still can't play the game.
He's going to give you some error, ignore that you have to press on ''tools'' and then on Settings Wizard.
Press start and its going to find servers for you.
After he did that you go to tools again and press on ''Patch'' its going to patch then
After patching its going to say ''Start, Exit, and Save'' just press on Exit you don't have to save it!
Now you did that all?

Your Done!
I Hope i helped a lot of people who are new to this because i just couldn't figure it out by the other tips & tricks it was just to difficult for me.

The true, simple version:

Acquire the appropriate LOTRO install files
Use the CXG Software Installer to take care of the install process for "Lord of the Rings Online"

...and that's it.

If you found instructions to download extra files, manually create bottles, etc.... you're doing it wrong and causing MUCH more work for yourself. The hacking of the registry for the VRAM settings is not required for everyone, and should only be done if you are having trouble with the video.

Also very important... If you install LOTRO and it creates "Codemasters" menu items, you are using the EUROPEAN version, and are locked into the EU servers. If you have a menu item for "Turbine", you are using the NORTH AMERICAN version, locked into the NA/AU/NZ servers.

Well with the VRAM you can just do that for being sure everything works oke its not hard to do if your new i also changed the name with EU server thnx for saying that
