Hey guys. How do I fix PylotRo? I have installed it and am on step 3 of the install process but every time I run PyLotRO it opens for two seconds and shows up in the doc but then closes on its own... any Ideas?

Fitst check the system log... launch /Applications/Utilities/Console
Click on "show log list" - Console messages should be open by default -- probably nothing there.
Click on "All Messages" - see if anything is there. That's your best hope for an obvious clue.
There are several other places where another log file might reside (if there is one)...

This might be the video memory size issue... try skipping to the tips and tricks section (phase 4) and setting the video memory size. That should not be the issue at this point, but who knows. Apple has different video cards in every one of its systems and it keeps updating the cards in the same systems depending on they year they were built in. As a result, a lot of video problems are related to the cards and drivers Apple is using.
... Also, I assume you are running 10.6 (Snow Leopard); I don't know that PyLotRO 0.1.12 will run on 10.5 (Leopard).

This is what it said after trying to run PYLotRO. I have no idea what is up....
Ah yes that would be an oops moment from me when I created the installer, try http://media.codeweavers.com/pub/other/pylotro/pylotro-setup-0.1.12.exe it should be packaged correctly with the missing files.
First of all you guys are amazing here for putting together this forum to help all of us who like to get lost in games on mac's and linux. I don't know how I found out about CXG but I'm glad I did. So major props to you all!
Yep that PYLotRO works a lot better. I'm patching it right now! Tanks a lot. Hey maybe you could throw up some working links on your write up in tips and tricks. List every program and Link it all so that its easier to find all of the apps. I probably downloaded around 5 different versions of LOTRO before I got one that would work. Oh and also maybe you could put in how to map the correct files too. Just so it is easy for the techno challenged people, and the savvy too. Save people some time, and cut down on questions too!

Note that if you use the C4P install mechanism it will locate the PyLotRO client and download it. Or if you use the C4P install for PyLotRO it will automatically download the PyLotRO client. (However, you're still on your own to get the DDO or LOTRO client.)
Linking the Client is far more difficult than it appears. Technically no complete legitimate copy of LOTRO exists in down-loadable form. You are expected to either "buy the box" or use Turbine's download client (which uses PANDO, and doesn't work with WINE.)
I suspect that Turbine no-longer puts up a complete copy, not only because they are now owned by Warner Brothers Home Entertainment group, but also because the file happens to be something on the order of 40Gig!!! [And we crashed their servers of multiple occasions till they switched to PANDO.]
Consequently, the location of the "working" version of the file is not a "fixed" thing (bandwidth issues and all that), and since Turbine patches and updates the programs (both DDO and LOTRO) frequently, the working version is also not static.
By the way, for those who don't know, the Turbine Download Manager (TDM) is actually (now) simply a PANDO client. PANDO is essentially a "seeded" file-sharing program like Napster and many others. That is to say, once you use PANDO to download the LOTRO/DDO clients, you are then sharing your copy with others via uploads -- chewing up both your up-link bandwidth AND your CPU -- unless you bother to read Turbine's FAQ's on PANDO and turn it off. Note that because it is PANDO, it is legal file-sharing!
Yeah I tried to do it that way but it would never download PYLotRO It's like the sight's bandwidth is always full. But I downloaded it so now I have it.
Amazing!!!! It works just like windows, I love it!

The executable version of PyLotRO has moved off my site as I tend to blow my limit by the third week of the month and have to either pay the penalty fee or upgrade bandwidth, neither I can realistically do but now Codeweavers are hosting the file for me and when CXG 9.1 is released installing it via the menu option should work again.
