** NOTICE - US/NA/AU/NZ USERS **

As of July 2009, Turbine has changed how it distributes the electronic download of the Lord of the Rings: Mines of Moria client, breaking installer compatibility with CXG.

The Trial version, "lotrosetup_freetrial.exe", uses the .NET 2.0-based Turbine Download Manager, which is not compatible with CrossOver Games.

The new, full installers, "lotrohigh.exe" and "lotrostandard.exe", use a Bittorent-like downloader by Pando, which does not work under CrossOver Games.

The old, full installers, "LOTRO-US-MinesofMoria-Downloader-HighRes.exe" and "LOTRO-US-MinesofMoria-Downloader-StandardRes.exe", have had their sources removed and cannot download anything.

LOTRO itself is still compatible with CXG. It is the downloadable installs that are the problem.

If you have the LOTRO:MOM install DVDs or have access to the older downloadable files ("MoriaSetup.exe" with eleven "*.bin" files) use those instead.

I think I've found another working US MoM downloader, I can't test it as my internet connection is playing up but the address is http://www.ausgamers.com/files/details/html/40665

It claims to be the US version but whether it is high-res or standard graphics I don't know.

I did a successful install from this download last night. The original file is big 9.2 gig or so. This was a zip file, and I had to find an independent unzipper, as the built in unzipper in the Mac OS said the file was too big. Unzips to 10 and a half nearly gig size .bin files, and the installer. Installed well, I still am not sure about whether its the standard rez or the high rez, although I have the hi rez option ticked, and its working well at 1920x1200, with the very high option. Its dated back in December of 2008, so I left it patching overnight.

If the LotRO game directory contains a file called client_highres.dat then you have the high resolution graphics, if it doesn't then obviously you don't :)

that file is there. Hi Rez Client. I saved the unzipped folder in a few places.

This notice is over a year old (Happy birthday!). Unstickied to let it fall off gracefully.

Refer to the Tips & Tricks for download sites, or buy the install DVDs for MoM, which are still available from online retailers.
