Problem with unsigned c4p

Hi,

I'm trying to get Lord of the rings working with Crossover, I've tried the c4p file on this site and crossover opens it and says "Load unsigned c4p?" or something similar (as the warnings on the site say it will).
I click to Load Anyway and the window stays there. Clicking don't load leaves the window up as well, all I can do is exit.
I can't see anyone with the same issue...

Thanks,
Evan

(I've tried manually installing lotro and pylotro and I get the splash screen and then just black)

untrusted I mean, not unsigned. It seems I can still click on the buttons behind the untrusted window, but it doesnt go away and I cant really read what I'm selecting.

Hi,

Are you using Crossover (Pro/Std), or Crossover Games?...it needs to be the latter here.

Cheers!

I believe I was using Crossover Mac Std, I hadn't realised Crossover Games was different, I'll try that tonight and let you know, thanks.

It's a bit misleading that Crossover Mac will read the c4p files and not work correctly rather than simply say "You need Crossover Games"

Indeed, nor should that happen -- Crossover Pro/Std should not load/execute a C4P profile that's
been coded for Crossover Games normally speaking....

Edit: wrong half of brain engaged....that situation which presents itself, I agree, doesn't lend itself to any intuitive conclusions.
It is actually the embodiment of the 'fail to load' situation, which can only be dismissed by clicking the 'Cancel' button that's
'underneath' the window that failing to Load/Don't Load ...ie; don't load has no power 8) You're correct, upon an attempt by the
user to load a C4P profile into a Crossover version it's not meant for, the cxinstaller logic should pop a something like you
mention above...mmm....iirc, such sanity checking/error handling is mooted for a further revision of the C4P system, but thanks
for mentioning this, it always helps when more than one voice voices the same opinion.. ;)

Cheers!

It should be easy to reproduce. I opened the c4p in Firefox and it asks what you want to open with, so I told it Crossover, thinking I was doing the right thing.
So it's not a matter of Crossover jumping up and saying "Pick me!", it's the user making dumb assumptions.
The only issue is that Crossover actually tries to read the file, I assume because it's got a lot of shared code with Crossover Games.

Ok, with Crossover Games I successfully installed using the c4p.
I patched and it downloaded lots of files, good.
I run the game and it loads up the splash screen and then goes black.
In Windows while on the splash screen there is writing and a progress bar, should I be expecting that to happen?

Check the "tips and tricks," especially "CrossOver Games - Mac Tweaks, from the Forums"

"Disable the Vertex shader" and video memory frequently fixes the black screen problem. The other tips also work pretty well.

And yes, the progress bar should show after the 2nd (I think) splash screen as the Turbine Client (which is now running) talks to its various servers.

I've tried reinstalling directx modern, turning off the vertex shader and setting the memory setting and opengl.
I still get the black screen after the splash screen.
