Lineage II, works absolutely perfectly, (edited: http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/dmca).

[b]Now, before you jump in and try this out. Know that I take no responsibility for any damage to your account or any action taken by NCSoft towards you.

All I can say is, I have been using this "fix" for 2 years and my accounts are still running. But it comes with a risk, just know that![/b]

1. Get the lastest version of Lineage II from the official website, as of writing, this is Gracia final.

2. Install it using crossover games, I picked windows 2000 as bottle.

3. You will need to get the allfonts from winetricks. Just copy them from your wine directory if need be, after using winetricks to install them. (/home/<youruser>/.wine/c_drive/windows/fonts) (EDIT: Make sure you have the Tahoma font, you can grab that from the web)

4. Let the game update, should work just fine now.

5. Now, I can't tell you were to get the gameguard disabling software. But I really like the links on this L2 fashion site: http://www.ivory-tower.de/, especially the first one! It may hold a "wildcard" in it's Lineage 2 section.

What doesn't work:

Nothing really. My GF 9300 isn't happy about the HDR rendering, but it does in fact work. The only things that don't are GPU Animation, Anti aliasing and the out of focus effect is not displayed right.

Hope someone found this usefull, there is trial program going on right now, if you feel like checking out the best MMO ever made ;)

Hello, I am just wonder if it works that great as you described. Let me be in doubt within. Especially if I am still sticked yeah yeah yeah whatever with good and old Tiger with all it's glitches and bugs because I am lazy to reinstall all tons of my soft. So have no idea if it even works with Tiger's drivers and security updates. Therefore if it does that would be the breakthrough indeed and allow me to say that CX is kept his leading position as it was in good and old pioneer's time. Let me keep in touch to inform comunity how it runs on a Tiger. Cheers!

I have absolutely no experience with apple products. I am using Nvidia 9300 with the lastest driver. And with gameguard disabled, the game runs smoothly. I don't have any fps from windows to compare with. But it is 100% playable and it can't be much worse then windows performance.

But, bottom line. You'll most likely need to find someone with Mac experience to try it out. I have been playing it in linux for a long time and have never had a single crash actually.

Okay, do you have any idea with how to bypass this gameguard problem that delicately called by you as 'with gameguard disabled'? As I remember it was a great headache all the time. I mean maybe these priv@te servers doesn't required it at all because of hacking any prevention in code? Regarding to Mac experience you are may be right that there is a difference between both systems on how it running wine-based soft stuff that's why and great to write to this thread because it might attract some Mac specialists and also admistrators to help us within. ty!

Also like to point out that.

Disabling gameguard doesn't in any way allow you to cheat or commit piracy on the game. You will still need a real account with real funding to play. Gameguards function is to protect the computer running L2 from keyloggers and the like.

Of course I won't promote to another products in this thread however get stumbled at http://www.zeus-soft.net/?p=43#more-43 that is seems to provide L2 accesse with ease on Linux. It would be great to find a something like for Mac OS X as well.

The verdict is garbage it still requires this oreans.vxd to bypass :( so no chance

This verdict is based on Linux and it works 110% and is based on that. So, my verdict is just fine.

oreans.vxd is a gameguard file... have you by any chance read the email I have sent you? You not doing it right.

Unluckily nothing has been changed due to any tweaks and this oreans.vxd problem still remains. I'll hope that this problem attracts the attention from developing stuff. cheez. I'd lke to mark the app especially for Mac, however still trying to analyse the code to resolve this.

Update:

I have now upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04LT and Crossover 9.0.1.

All I can say is that it runs even better now. Much better fps and I am still crash free after 2 days of playing.

Genuzz, were you ever able to get this working? I recently have got it to run great on OSX 10.6.3. Please post here if you would like some help and thank you kim for giving the fix!

Same things that Kim posted work and dont work. It runs great if I have only texture filter enabled. If GPU animation is enabled the character textures go crazy.

Glad to hear you got it working under OS 10. Maybe post some computer specifications, especially graphics card, driver and distro, could be helpful

First of all a big thank U to kim .... excellent guide....did all step by step and worked .

I own a new MBP 2.4C2D June 2010 model . My problem is that when i get to splash screen first a message appears that says about AGP not active and to activate it for game consistency . When i bypass this the game loads normal i hear the login screen sounds but i see only black(or white sometimes) screen . Any ideas about that ??

I think I would first try switching between windowed and full screen mode (alt + enter) and see if that does anything for the video. If not try going to

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/CrossOver Games/Bottles/Lineage2/drive_c/Program Files/NCsoft/Lineage II/system

and delete option.ini, then try running the game again. It should create a new default option.ini which hopefully changes your video settings. If not maybe kim has some suggestions.

Peter thx for your quick answer . I ve tried alt+enter with no result . Also the file option.ini does not exists at my system folder although my client is fully updated .

Have you tried doing a fixed desktop size? Ati drivers have a hard time with full screen, if you got such hardware. Its under the graphics tab in the control panel.

Nop ..... i own the recently updated MBP PRO 13" with Nvidia chipset .

I'll just like to add that the game is working fine with the neweste, freya, update. If you follow my guide.

hey kim....gratz for the excellent work .

i have one Question . I did manage to install the client as you described above .
My problem is that i can not see any graphic characters at all . no letters no symbols no nothing except graphics of the game .
So as u can imagine i dont see chat msgs inventory or anything that has a tag name on it . no letters at all .

any idea how i can fix this ..... i ve already installed all crossover font packages .

Easy fix, grab the Tahoma font from the web. http://www.boldfonts.com/fonts/T/Tahoma.html

Put that in the font directory in your home/.cxgames/<lineage 2 drive>/windows/fonts

Hello !!!

1st : Seth you have to install the game from scratch with the original installers of ncsoft....i had the same problem with existing clients
of game. Also use crossovergames not simple crossover and install most packages for NET framework and microsoft OLE and
every package you think its needed to run a game at windows.

2nd : Kim i have a real messed up problem here.....my acc was banned after multiple warnings from ncsoft for GG....i contacted with
the support...they released my acc and rephrased me to senior support. The guy there told me there is nothing they can do about
the GG thing and that i should play via Bootcamp or to talk with codeweavers to find me a solution or else i ll be banned again.
Any ideas ???

Sorry for lame question, but which packages i should install in order run it? Saying "which ever required to run a game in Windows" wont help for my absent mind.

hi ive been trying to get lineage working on mac for years i was wondering if anyone can talk me through how to get it working as i am not too adept at using mac or wine. tyy

It seems that ncsoft is cracking down hard on clients without gameguard running. I would not advise doing this anymore.

im wanting to play on a private server anyway

Once I'm back at home I will write up a guide on the steps I took to install and run Lineage2 smoothly under Crossover Games, however I'm sure there is a guide round here somewhere.
