Crossover doesn't recognize DVD in Drive

Hello,

I tried to run Lego Indiana Jones 2 on Crossover Games. I downloaded version 8.1.3 for that, but when I try to start the game, the game (or Crossover) doesn't recognize the original DVD in the internal optical drive of my iMac 2.4 GHz with 10.5.8 running.

Here you have the log file that I received with the run-command-option from Crossover:

Don't ask for trimming, I don't know what is important.

With Lego Star Wars II I have the same problem. Does Lego use a security mechanism that crossover simply can't deal with?

Thank you for any help,
Dominik

Hi,

Well...can you tell me how you concluded that it can't see the disc in the drive?
I ask this, because the trace you supplied looks suspiciously like (almost identical
in places) some traces I've gleaned from other problematic titles that are not CD/DVD
based (direct download, Steam)...hence my curiousity.

Also, have you tried adding the other runtime files mentioned in the other thread here?

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=6738;forum=1;msg=68892

If is is just a disc-check failing, then this is consistent with known limitations/issues
with the Mac scsi drivers...

Cheers!

Hello Don,

I concluded from the error message I receive when I try to launch the game. They don't like screen shots of error messages here, so I loaded it on my webspace.

In the section about Lego Star Wars II i managed to load the corresponding error message a few months ago so you can compare: https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=2332;screenshot=1

I didn't add those files in the other thread. How exactly do I have to do that?

What Mac-SCSI-Drivers? My System-Profiler tells me my optical drive is attached to a ATA-Bus?
But if the reason for the problem would be this limitation: is there a solution or is this unsolvable?

Thank you for your answer,
Dominik

Hi again,

Ich bin einer Australier!! ...<grin>...but it's ok, I can read some German 😉

As for...;

https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=2332;screenshot=1

You should probably send an email to info@codeweaver.com and kindly ask then to
remove that screenshot - it shouldn't be there, as we both know.. ;)

As for the Mac scsi interface....see this thread;

http://www.codeweavers.com/support/forums/general/?t=27;mhl=44857;msg=44853#msg44857

I imagine (though don't know for sure) that the Macs inplement an ATA API ontop of
their low-level scsi drivers...(which I think would be technically equivalent to scsi
with a reduced command/instruction set)...and it looks like one of the missing scsi
commands is actually required for CD/DVD checks to work...

The other thread I mentioned says...;

"I have it working on Wineskin at full screen mode, directx 9 installed, glsl - enabled, DirctDrawRenderer - opengl,
and physx installed/ NIVIDA drivers and Enhanced graphics inside the game turned off."

That looks very much to me like it's linuxcentric -- linux does not suffer the same
scsi driver limitations, and thus is likely to be passing the CD/DVD check without
any problems -- the details of that sentence are;

install directx runtime modern into the same bottle using cxinsallwizard

use regedit to add the registry keys glsl - enabled, DirctDrawRenderer - opengl to the same bottle

install the nvidia physx runtime as unsupported software into the same bottle using cxinsallwizard
(I'm not sure if this is working properly..)

change graphics settings in game

Of course, you'll have to get around the CD/DVD check first -- my best advice, is to read
the WineAppDB entries for these titles....ie;

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=4007

Some information contained there might be able to help you,

Cheers!

Hello Don,

so your name is not Bruce then? That's gonna cause some confusion ... 😀

The holidays are over and I had no time to look into your tip. I don't know, when I will have time to do that, but I won't forget it. Thank you so far.

Dominik

Hi Dominik,

"This here's the wattle, the emblem of our land - you can stick it in a bottle, you can hold it in your hand" - Micheal Baldwin Bruce 😉

No worries, when you get around to it and/or if you need any further
help/advice, just post back to this thread...

Cheers!
