Hi all,
Fresh install of both Steam and L4D2 in a new bottle (CXGames 9.1.0), using Gentoo Linux 2.6.34-r1 amd64. When trying to run L4D2, the following error occurs: ""L4D2 requires texture compression but was not detected. Most likely, texture compression support was accidentally disabled on your computer" . What should I try to do to fix this?
Thanks!
Hibba.
EDIT:
Hey all, nevermind, fixed it. If anyone else gets the above problem, here is a specific article I found and used: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/nvidia-guide.xml . There was another article, I think it was from the same site as above, that said to install mesa-progs. So, I did that and then modified my xorg.conf file by adding a Module section and then the load "glx" part. And of course the EndSection line; don't forget that 😊. Restarted X and the problem was gone.
Hope this helps if anyone else has this problem.
Hibba.
EDIT: The other article I was thinking of was here: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/dri-howto.xml. Note that in this one both the dri and glx modules are loaded; the first article I linked to states not to do this and to only load the glx one. I had only enabled the glx module, so I don't know what the result would be if you loaded them both.
