No blood/gore?

Was this disabled for performance reason? It looks like I'm using the censored australian version, yet I don't live in australia.

Video comparing the australian version vs uncensored.

Anyone else experiencing this?

edit: nvm found a fix, had to run it straight from the .exe instead of in the steam games list.

You most likely have the '-lv' (low violence) option set in your launch options. This is added automatically because it resolved some crashing issues. Many people (myself included) have found that it may no longer be necessary.

You can disable it by right clicking on Left 4 Dead 2 in the Steam apps tab, selecting 'Properties' and click the 'Set launch options' button. Just remove '-lv' and you should be good.

Yep, we added -lv because it helped with stability a while ago, and because Windows users reported the same experience(more stable game with -lv). Since then we realized that most crashes came from issues with the DRM system. Valve seems to have fixed a number of crashes related to -lv as well, so it should be ok to remove the switch.

I think we removed it from our default registry, but if you have an older bottle it is still set - we can't remove launch options once they are set, only provide default for newly created bottles.

when i read the title of this thread i was in for a real scare, i thought that, for an odd reason, valve released an update which disabled blood/gore in the game. it was just the 1st thing that came to mind. But now that makes sense, '-lv' in launch options is what caused this, so that's what -lv stands for. makes perfect sense

I was wondering why the game seemed less intense than Left 4 Dead. Took out the switch and it's perfect.
