Flashlight issue

Hi all,

After upgrading to 9.0, I've been having flashlight errors. Mainly, the light from it either doesn't show up, or has strange color effects to it (maybe even parts of my desktop? Or cairo-dock?). Changing my video settings sometimes helps for a minute or so, but then it disappears/glitches again shortly. Has anyone else here been experiencing a similar error?

My system:

Gentoo AMD 64-bit, using both a previous Crossover install and a fresh one.
Ubuntu 64-bit, with a previous crossover install (issue occurs in it, too).
Nvidia Geforce 250
4 GB RAM.

Thanks,

Hibba.

Hi,

Are you saying it worked -before- you upgraded to 9.0?

What video drivers are you using?

Cheers!

Yeah, in 8.1.4 it worked, but not after the upgrade to 9.0.

My driver is 190.42, it looks like.

Thanks!

Hibba.

Hmm...that sounds a bit odd....if going back to 8.1.4 (where it worked before)
no longer works, then the logical deductions would suggest either the bottle,
or the L4D2 installation have somehow become uncooperative. I don't have L4D2
but I have a lot of steamapps...have you backedup your current L4D2 installation
via steam backup and then deleted the local content and tried reinstalling L4D2?
(either by redownloading it or via backup) Do you have any other steam/source
titles installed?...are they still running correctly?.....

Let me know...

Cheers!

Do you have Compiz enabled? If so, try disabling it. Might help.

Thank you for your responses, guys. Later I might try 8.1.4 to see if it still works.

As for the bottle, in Gentoo I made a fresh bottle and a fresh steam/L4D2 install, and it still occurs. I didn't make a Steam/Crossover backup, but was also trying a bottle made in 8.1.4, with the same effect. I don't think I'm using compiz on Gentoo, not sure about Ubuntu... gonna try to remove Compiz and try it again.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I do have a few other Steam games, one of which is Team Fortress 2, which appears to be working. The other is Plants Vs. Zombies which I think was working, too. Maybe World of Goo Demo, but not sure if I tried it in 9.0 or not. All of these are from an earlier bottle being ran in 9.0.

Thanks!

Hibba.

I have the exact same issue. Fedora 64bit / NVidia GTX 260, driver 195.36.15...

It did work fine with 8.1.4. I'm not sure of the 9.0.0 beta(s)...

EDIT: I just tested this with the new beta driver 256.25. Tried fullscreen and windowed with and without virtual desktop. Tried UseGLSL enabled and disabled. Low and high gfx settings. Nothing fixed it. Submitted a ticket.

I have the same issue with crossover games 9.0 .
Issue was not present in 8.1.4 .

Details:
Arch Linux x64
Kernel 2.6.33
NVIDIA 250 gts
4gb ram
Tried with drivers 195.36.15, 195.36.24, 256.25. Tried with and without desktop effects.

Setting OffScreenRenderingMode to backbuffer removes the error but decreases performance alot.

Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience.

Good to hear you are working on this 😊 As of downgrading to 8.1.4, I think I'll pass and just wait patiently, since as of now I'm only playing Steam (which require 9.0.0) games, and other than l4d2 they are working well. Thanks.
