Bootcamp or Crossover

I'm wondering whats Good and whats bad about bootcamp and the same with crossover.
im just trying to make the best possible decision for my imac

Also if you can tell me how this would run in Crossover.
i would like to run Left 4 Dead 2 in the best way possible and virus free
specs of my imac
Intel Core Duo 2(3.06ghz)
ATI Radeon HD 4670
4 gb ram
1TB HDD

It is in no doubt that you will obtain better performance with gaming whilst on Bootcamp because you're DIRECTLY utilizing windows components and elements to run these PC games, unlike Crossover, you're not emulating anything. HOWEVER, you will be at risk with viruses, malware, etc. With Crossover, sure the performance is on the downside in comparison with running these games on bootcamp, but at least u will still be running them within the Mac OS without the need to restart or reboot ur machine, and ur home-free from viruses. Mind u the compatibility is rather good on Crossover, which is why many of us have spent the $30 or whatever to run this program for games because the bootcamp alternative among many others just didn't show as much promise.

It's Math Time With Forrest! :D

Windows 7: $183.49 from newegg.com
CrossOver Games: $39.95 from CodeWeavers.com

$183.49 - $39.95 = $143.54

That's $143.54 dollars in savings!!!

With that much in savings you could buy the Orange Box, Garry's Mod, Left 4 Dead 1&2, and a nice pair of gaming headsets to trash-talk with!!!

I don't know about you, but THAT is a deal.

Plus then their is a chance that the game might not run due to incompatible drivers. I have a friend who couldn't get some of his games to work with Boot Camp, no matter how much he tried.

Then there's Viruses and Trojans that Windows can get, bleh. Then it takes time to reinstall windows and the boot camp drivers and that's no fun.

I'll be honest, CrossOver Games isn't perfect, sure it crashes from times to time, but it works really well for what it does, In most cases I can play TF2 for about 5+ hours without crashes. Just make sure that your applications are supported before making the buying decision.

Okay, I'll stop rambling here, I'm starting to sound like a sellout too CodeWeavers.

oo last time i checked, left4dead 2 ran just fine on crossover games 8.1.4, and if you use Bootcamp, your vulnerable to viruses because your running an XP partition.

stick with CrossOver, safer/cheaper/quicker and all around a more convenient alternative. With the specs u have, ul have far better performance than on my MBP 15" and im having a blast with mine

Unfortunately my opinion on this is changing somewhat.
