Known not to work

BitTorrent DNA download worked, but failed to launch the installer after completion.

Installer worked, but did not create menu items.

Launcher runs but generates a "Information file is not proper. Will you download again?" error that ignores the OK button.

I was going to give this a try tonight (after reading my email, I
discovered the invite)...I'll let my penguin have at it later..

Harry - just for my mental notes, you're on Mac yes?

Yeah. OSX ^^

It's odd... the Aeria games are very hit or miss. Either "silver" right out of the box (so to speak) or a permanent "known not to work"

Wish I had more time to play these things! LOL

Haha, thanks for that (;

As for LaTale....I went the full installer download path, and it
does install cleanly, but not run for/or because of the exact same
errors/reasons as you've noted.

Next, I moved to letting wine-1.1.26 have a swing at it. This was
sort of interesting -- after installing LaTale and letting it
'launch now' after installation had finished, the wine process
popped a window saying that it detected the software wanted to open
a webpage, and asked me if I wanted to download/install wine gecko.
I let it do so, and then the LaTale client_launcher did actually
try opening a page in the client's right-panel...before hitting the
same error and turning into a static display of pretty but useless
pixels...

Digging around in the game's $installdir, I noticed the directory
'GameGuard' there...empty and devoid of files, and right about then
my ninja senses started tingling ; perhaps this is the problem here.

Gameguard? sigh Stick a fork in this... it's done.

GameGuard is basically an anti-exploit toolkit. Unfortunately, virtual machines facilitate exploitation (i.e. multiboxing on a single box) The developers have no interest in helping with WINE compatibility and, by extension, CXG. FWIW, most of the games that Aeria offers that don't work are due to GameGuard.

I may well be wrong, but that's how I understand it.

Yeah, I wish you were wrong....but I have the same undersanding (;

Hi!

I tried to install LaTale Today ... i still have the same problem you had. :(
So Game Guard is the problem ... so there is no way this game can work with Crossover Games?

That is correct
